Amazing news about the interview! Once again, I am located in entirely the wrong part of the world to enjoy such things 😩
I think it's crazy to deduct points from a manga about art and artistic growth for having too much art in it. Blue Period weaves it so beautifully into the plot that, like you say, it feels authentic to the world of the story and not like an info-dump. And I love a story that teaches me something about a subject I previously knew very little about. It's my favourite way to learn. People often ask me 'How do you know about such and such?' and usually the answer is that I read or watched it in a narrative. Or, sometimes, it's because I've researched it for my own writing so that I can provide those little realistic details that will ground the story in authenticity.
I really like the point you make about how this builds trust with the reader. You really do want your reader to trust that you know what you're doing.
Thanks! You’re in England? I hear Waterstones does manga events from time to time too. Or I might be imagining that.
I’m the same way, I love learning in books. That’s why I freaked out over Dinosaur Sanctuary too because you’re learning alongside the characters. It’s a fantastic way to tell a story. And it adds another layer to the story too, another thing to keep readers engaged in.
Oh my god! Congratulations on the interview!!! That’s amazing! 🥳 I wish I could make it, but I’ll be a thousand miles away. Lol Will there be a recording? Excellent point about authenticity, sometimes it’s the one element separating a good story from a great one.

Yes, I'm in England. I've just got to wait for Waterstones to hold an event in a store near enough to me! 🤞
Dinosaur Sancturay sounds like something my nephew would love, perhaps as a Christmas present!

Thank you! There are strictly no recordings or photos, unfortunately. Maybe I’ll write up a recap though!
