I think that's what I instinctively try to do anyway in my own work, but I've never had anyone articulate it in such a helpful way before, so thanks for putting that concept in my brain!
And I think it really should be instinctive to be really effective. If I’m thinking “okay, I need to convey my sadness in this character,” it’s probably gonna feel contrived. Glad it connected!
