I liked wha, but saw it as a story for a younger demographic inti Qifrey’s story started to unfold. Now I’m shook and addicted. The guy has serious personal stakes on the line and I’m ready for him to shake things up!

Yeah Qifrey really changed the game for WHA, shook up the tone, expanded what I thought the story was capable of. Completely agree with you, he's the main driving force for me, I can't wait to see what develops.

I'm a big WHA fan, and Qifrey is one of my favorite characters. I agree that his moral grayness is very interesting, can't wait to see how things will turn out with him

I really hope he goes rogue. But I also don’t. But I think I want him to more than I don’t 😂

Thanks for another great newsletter! I like how you define “wild card” characters. In crime fiction, a genre I used to focus on, that too often translates to “unreasonable hothead,” which can get boring after a while and even strain credulity.

Thank you for reading! I do think there's a fine line between being a wild card character and just being unhinged in the name of unpredictability. They can both serve the same purpose, but wild card characters just feel more grounded and realistic, whereas unhinged, or unreasonable do get frustrating.
